Services We are a community transport service that enables disabled, mobility-impaired and rurally isolated people to remain part of their community. We enable them to get out to doctor's appointments; dentists, shopping locally, visiting friends or attend lunch clubs and day centres.
We operate three services at present: Dial-A-Ride. This is for people unable to use public transport for reasons of disability, mobility or rural isolation. The minibuses used for this are all wheelchair-accessible and have tail lifts. The fares are determined on the range of travel. Service users register as members, which is free, and book journeys at least a day in advance. These are mainly operated by volunteer drivers.
Wheel within Wheels. This is a Volkswagen Sharan that is also wheelchair-accessible and is used mainly for hire work, taking people to hospital appointments and longer journeys e.g. holiday/respite. This is charged at 28p per mile for journeys other than to hospital, which is charged at 38p per mile. Coastlink. This is a demand-responsive service that runs 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm. This is run with paid drivers and covers the area from Walberswick, Darsham, Yoxford and Leiston. It connects with public transport trains and buses and acts as a feeder service. Bookings can be taken up until 12 pm the day before. We also hire out the vehicles to residential homes and local clubs etc and provide a volunteer driver for the hire unless the hirer has a trained driver. Part-day, half-day and whole day hire available, all with wheelchair-accessible vehicles. |
